Speaker Identification

ID the interpreter as 'Respondent' (or the respondent's name, if known) unless they interject in their own words.

• Default identification: Use 'Respondent' for interpreted speech

• Use actual name if the respondent's name is known

• Separate identification only when the interpreter speaks independently (not translating)

When Interpreter Speaks Independently

If the interpreter adds their own comments or explanations (not translating), then identify them separately as 'Interpreter'.

Standard interpretation:

Respondent: [Interpreted response]

Interpreter's independent comment:

Interpreter: She's asking if she can clarify that point.

Respondent: [Interpreted clarification]
